Support Service Worker role at Shared Health requires providing services to patients, staff, and community partners at Selkirk Mental Health Centre, including cleaning, food service, and transportation.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordination of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba, delivering some province-wide health services and supporting administrative functions for Manitoba health organizations.

The Support Service Worker is responsible for:

  • Providing a clean environment, food service, and porter/laundry services
  • Supply replenishment, equipment maintenance, and transportation
  • Security and customer service

Requirements:

  • Experience working in housekeeping and food service in a healthcare or related environment
  • Customer service experience
  • Housekeeping and cleaning experience
  • Food handling experience (knowledge of food preparation and safety)
  • Pick-up and delivery experience

Education:

  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards

Certification/Licensure:

  • Valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's license desired

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize daily work and competing deadlines
  • Ability to work safely and operate equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning practices and equipment
  • Knowledge of food preparation and equipment
  • Ability to work with patients at SMHC
  • Satisfactory attendance record
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on feet for eight-hour shifts
  • Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions
  • Ability to work varying shifts and weekends, including statutory holidays

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
