Administrative Assistant II, Medical position supporting physicians in the Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology with clinical and administrative duties to ensure a smooth patient journey.
Job DescriptionThe Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is a leading program in Canada, supporting extensive clinical, translational, and basic research initiatives. The Administrative Assistant II, Medical position plays a crucial role in supporting patients and physicians to ensure a seamless experience.
Duties- Manage physician office phone line and digital messages, serving as the primary contact for patients relating to physician-specific matters.
- Assist with and track outgoing referrals to ensure timely follow-up by other medical specialists.
- Help prepare clinics to ensure tests have been ordered and reported on prior to visits.
- Manage physician calendars and send out meeting invites, taking meeting minutes as needed.
- Assist in the completion of forms related to patient care.
- Support academic needs of physicians, such as CV maintenance and promotions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Completion of Secondary School or recognized equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary office/medical administration program at the certificate level or equivalent.
- Two (2) years related administrative support experience.
- Experience working with EPIC EMR for managing referrals, appointment scheduling, and standard clinical operations is required.
- Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing in a Microsoft Office environment is preferred.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment is an asset.
- Fluency in a second language is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Able to operate effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
