Journeyman Carpenter Wanted

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Carpenter to join our team at IOL Kearl Facilities Maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction codes and be able to analyze and troubleshoot various work scopes.

About the Role:

  • Read and interpret construction layouts and blueprints to plan work processes.
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings.
  • Build wooden/steel structures such as partitions, building, office additions, sheeting and rough carpentry on the buildings as well as final finishes.
  • Perform hand and bench work in carpentry workshop; operate planers, joiners, drill presses, power saws, sanders, and other woodworking machinery.
  • Utilize framing or finish carpentry experience.
  • Provide training, mentorship and support for Apprentices as required.

Requirements:

  • Licensed Alberta Journeyman or Red Seal Certificate is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean driver's abstract is required.
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certificate is required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role is required.
  • Framing or Finish Carpentry experience, drywall skills an asset.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive Drug, Alcohol, and Physical Demand Assessment.
  • Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Balance for working on scaffolding.
  • Strong mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a work team.
  • Fluent in spoken, written, and reading English.
