We are currently looking for a Content Marketing Manager to devise and lead content marketing strategy for Blue J’s thought leadership efforts and support content efforts for product marketing, digital marketing, training, etc.

The successful candidate will understand the imperative of building an emotional connection with customers through long form and short form content, and across email, web, paid media, and social media platforms. We are seeking a collaborative, energized individual to build and drive our content marketing program to the next level. Reporting to our VP, Marketing, the Content Marketing Manager will play a meaningful role in designing, developing, executing, and maintaining Blue J’s content marketing strategy. We’re at an incredibly exciting point in our growth journey, and looking for someone to match our energy as we dominate the tax research market.

You'll get to work closely with and learn from our amazing marketing team of 4, and we are looking forward to everything that we will learn from you

A note on location: We are excited to meet candidates and are grateful for everyone's interest. While this role is listed as hybrid, you'll have the option to go into our downtown-Toronto office, work remotely, or choose a mix of both All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

What You'll be Doing
  • Leading the development and refinement of content themes, personas, path to purchase, content derivative planning, and content distribution strategy.
  • Taking ownership of each stage of the content development process, from ideation to final delivery.
  • Identifying and advising on content ideas and recommendations through the content development process.
  • Managing the content ideation process, content pitches, and editorial calendar.
  • Writing exceptional content as part of a cross-functional marketing team for a variety of stakeholders and audiences.
  • Interpreting technical information and translating into content that is accessible to a business audience while maintaining accuracy.
  • Creating emotional connections between our brand and our customers through powerful storytelling.
  • Collaborating with the Marketing team, other departments, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders to research and write content.
  • Supporting the Sales team on sales enablement initiatives such as proposals, follow up with potential and current customers, presentations and other marketing materials as needed.
  • Achieving established goals and leveraging defined KPIs to determine the effectiveness of your content.
  • Reviewing content KPIs and developing recommendations for improvements.
  • Researching, monitoring, and staying informed on topics and current business issues related to Blue J’s products and clients, and presenting new content ideas or refreshing content in response to market changes.
  • Researching and leveraging new content marketing and digital marketing tactics and strategies.
  • Assisting in developing and ensuring consistent application of the content development and quality assurance processes.
  • Developing Blue J’s style guide for written guidance across channels.
  • Enforcing Blue J’s corporate brand and visual identity standards, including consistency of tone, look, and feel in design and writing styles.
  • Ensuring consistency in messaging and branding throughout content and communications channels.
  • Working with and managing external service providers, such as agencies and freelance writers, as needed.
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned.
A Bit About You
  • Need to Have
  • You’re an amazing storyteller, with the ability to write for a variety of channels, leveraging key messaging, and determining style and tone to speak to different audiences including customers, partners, media, investors, and employees.
  • You’ve graduated from a post-secondary institution with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Commerce, Business Administration, Marketing or a related field, or you have equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of proven experience performing a similar function in B2B content marketing or communications.
  • Experience working in a similar role in a highly-regulated, complex industry such as legal, accounting, life sciences, medical device, compliance, security and defence, food and beverage, etc.
  • An expert level understanding of a content marketing program, how it evolves over time, and how to manage distribution, syndication, and relevance.
  • You have exceptional English language verbal and written communications skills and equally impressive project management skills.
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to create content in a fast-paced environment to respond to changes in the market.
  • Experience working closely with Sales teams to respond to requests for proposals and for sales enablement support.
  • The ability to work with and develop strong relationships with various levels of roles and personas across the company.
  • You are a problem solver who brings fresh, original thinking to company and customer problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital content writing best practices (web, social, email, etc) and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • You possess a high degree of emotional intelligence, with the ability to be an effective team-player in a cross-functional environment.

  • Experience working in an agency environment is an asset.
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management systems is an asset.
  • Experience in public and investor relations is an asset.

  • 30 minute meeting with Laura Sweet and our Manager, Demand Generation, Jessica Fuentes, to review your portfolio.
  • 30 minute meeting with Ben Alarie, our CEO, to learn about where you fit into our exciting growth plans
