Career Opportunity
The objective of this position is to assist in leading the Accounting department, in all functional areas, and to ensure accurate and timely financial information is available for both internal and external stakeholders through the full accounting cycle.
Reporting to the Controller and working from the Edmonton office, the individual will help lead the international accounting group with teams in Canada, USA, and Chile.
Accountabilities:
- Consolidated financial statement review and analysis for international group of companies,
- Work with operations on project accounting, project performance, and reporting,
- Act as the primary contact for the external auditors and facilitate the audit internally,
- Assist with preparation of tax filings throughout various jurisdictions,
- Manage regulatory compliance and month-end closing processes,
- Review, approve, and prepare, transactions within area of oversight,
- Oversee completion of various account reconciliations, including monthly subledger reviews,
- Assist with the preparation of forecasting and budgeting,
- Support operational teams by providing financial expertise on project related inquiries,
- Work cross functionally with other departments to coordinate improvement initiatives and implement Accounting practices as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Professional accounting designation with a minimum of 5 years experience,
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory position,
- Experience with full cycle accounting a must,
- Experience with project based accounting preferred,
- Familiarity with NetSuite and Power BI reporting tool a plus,
- Spanish language fluency considered an asset,
- Strong analytical and organizational skills,
- Effective communication skills both oral and written,
- Ability to lead teams through operational and process changes,
- Availability to travel (Canadian, U.S., International) minimal requirements (less than 5%),
