As Shelter Canadian Properties continues to grow, we are seeking accountants with bookkeeping experience for the Winnipeg Head Office. The company is a multi-faceted real estate development and property management company, managing a diverse portfolio of publicly and privately owned residential rental, condominium, commercial, and hotel properties. The Winnipeg Head Office employs approximately 70 employees who attend to accounting, finance, and taxation matters of the managed properties, as well as asset management and other special services.

The Accountant/Bookkeeper is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting functions for a portfolio of properties. Responsibilities include:

  1. Cash management
  2. Reconciliation of bank accounts and rent receivable accounts
  3. Management of accounts receivable and payable
  4. Preparation of journal entries and variance analysis to compare actual results with operating budgets
  5. Liaising with operations staff to verify or obtain supporting information
  6. Preparation of GST remittances and other special reports

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting concepts, bookkeeping experience, a working knowledge of Excel, and good communication skills.
