About Homeward Public Affairs:

Launched in January 2024, Homeward Public Affairs is an innovative and fast-growing start-up public policy and government relations firm on the verge of entering scale-up mode. We work with a diverse range of clients to navigate the complexities of government and achieve their public policy goals. Joining our company at this stage provides a unique pathway to growth and professional development.

The Job:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Government Relations Coordinator to join our team beginning with a six-month contractor agreement. Please note, as part of Homeward’s development, our intention is to transition our contractors to employment agreements in Q1-2 2025.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research and analysis on legislative, regulatory, and policy issues relevant to clients' interests.
  • Monitoring media coverage, legislative developments, and other information sources to keep clients and team members informed.
  • Developing and draft briefing materials, reports, and content for various audiences, including clients and internal teams.
  • Assisting in the planning and coordination of meetings, events, and communications with government officials and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the creation and implementation of government relations strategies to advance client objectives.
  • Collaborating with senior team members to provide research and content support for strategic advocacy initiatives.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Homeward's ideal Government Relations Coordinator has the following characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
  • 1-3 years of experience in government relations, public policy, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian political landscape and legislative processes is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Why Join Homeward Public Affairs?

  • Work with a passionate and dedicated team committed to making a positive impact.
  • Engage in meaningful and impactful projects across various sectors, including housing, Indigenous reconciliation, health, and workforce development.
  • Opportunity for fast-tracked professional growth and development.
  • Opportunity to support the development of Homeward’s corporate culture and employee benefits package (coming in Q1-2 2025).
  • Flexible remote work environment.

Please submit your application by 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
