Location: Hybrid 1d/week - Toronto


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and automate application deployments across all environments, ensuring stability and high availability.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain components, managing upgrades and proactive interventions.
  • Develop detailed release documentation while ensuring compliance with audit and security policies.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and Operations teams to ensure stability and performance before deployments.
  • Manage risks, resolve issues, and ensure zero impact on clients and services during releases.
  • Represent releases in Change Advisory Boards, and lead post-implementation reviews to enhance processes.
  • Implement best practices, driving continuous improvements in deployment pipelines and automation.
  • Prioritize application stability and service optimization initiatives in line with SLAs.
  • Use performance data and monitoring tools to drive service excellence and optimize application performance.
  • Implement scalable, automated solutions to reduce manual interventions and ensure application availability.
  • Streamline all aspects of Application Operations, integrating build, development, and testing processes.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call production support, quickly resolving escalated issues and mitigating risks.


Requirements:

  • 7-8 years experience in an application support capacity (Devops/SRE) of Java based applications
  • Expertise in using version control systems, such as Git, for managing codebases and collaboration.
  • Expertise with Red Hat Open Shift and PostgreSQL databases.
  • Expertise with CI/CD Automation and Kubernetes / containerization (e.g. docker).
  • Expertise with scripting e.g. Power Shell, Python, and Ansible.
  • Experience with Monitoring, logging and tools such as Azure Monitor, Splunk, Dynatrace etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development and Agile frameworks (e.g. JIRA, GitHub)
  • Strong background in build integration, testing and automation strategies.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC including release planning, release processes, software testing, deployment implementation and maintenance/support.
  • A good understanding of different types of open-source packages, preferably Spring, Apache and data transformation (JSON, XML).
  • Well versed in analyzing data, identifying and proactively mitigating risk to production systems.


Nice to have:

  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Certification
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (or similar across AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Experience with supporting/maintaining and migrating to AWS services.
  • Experience working in Agile squads.
  • Experience working with OpenShift
  • Experience working in the Financial and Payments services.
  • ITIL Certification
