Privacy Analyst

Altis Recruitment is grateful to partner with an organization within the Broader Public Sector to support the recruitment of a Privacy Practice Analyst for our client in the non profit industry.
This is a fulltime permanent position offering a hybrid working model located in Vancouver.
The Privacy Practice Analyst reports to the Manager of Information Management andwill be responsible for ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, particularly FOIPPA (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act).
Their responsibilities include responding to FOIPPA requests, handling complaints about personal information, providing training and support to staff, and liaising with external bodies. They also lead privacy incident investigations, facilitate Privacy Impact Assessments, and identify issues requiring legal consultation. Additionally, they develop and maintain documentation, databases, policies, and procedures related to privacy compliance, continuously improving privacy program. They stay informed about privacy trends and regulations, collaborate with various teams, and contribute to developing a culture of privacy awareness and compliance within organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with privacy requirements and respond to FOIPPA requests.
- Address complaints directly from individuals and families regarding personal information handling.
- Provide information to the Director about practice trends for improvement.
- Communicate with external bodies to ensure appropriate responses to requests.
- Offer support and advice to field staff on privacy and information requests.
- Provide or arrange training and forums for staff.
- Support the Director of IT Services in promoting high-quality practices through policy and communication materials.
- Liaise with Information Access Operations to handle Freedom of Information Requests, including assessing requests and facilitating release processes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to business units on privacy and information requests.
- Lead and coordinate investigations of privacy incidents and manage related information.
- Analyze data to support incident management throughout the organization.
- Facilitate Privacy Impact Assessments and Information Sharing Agreements.
- Identify issues requiring legal consultation related to privacy or information requests.
- Communicate issue resolution and coordinate documentation.
- Support Privacy compliant process through database management.
- Continuously improve privacy program, including policy development.
- Evaluate privacy impacts on policies and make recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Assist in developing and reviewing training curricula.
- Distill key learnings and make recommendations for new approaches.
- Design initiatives to promote a culture of privacy awareness and compliance.
- Conduct research to support projects as requested.
- Monitor news, events, laws, and regulations related to privacy compliance.
- Collaborate with various teams to support privacy during program development.
- Stay informed about evolving privacy issues and update policies as necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business,Human Services, Law, Public Administration,Information Management or a related degree
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a privacy position
- CIPM or CIPP designation
