What you will be doing:
  1. Providing guidance on all personnel matters to the management and leadership teams in areas such as:
    1. Recruitment
    2. Labour relations
    3. Attendance management
    4. Compensation
    5. Employee engagement
    6. Training and development
    7. Interpretation of the CBA
    8. Health and safety
  2. Supporting the improvement and strategic development of HR policies and procedures.
  3. Coaching clients and liaising with unions on labour relations concerns such as:
    1. Performance/attendance management
    2. Displacement
    3. Discipline
  4. Facilitating the management and investigation of union grievances through the appropriate processes.
  5. Overseeing Return to Work processes.
  6. Participating in various internal and external/regional committees related to human resources and/or client business such as:
    1. Regional Workforce Planning
    2. Redesign Committees/Councils
    3. Labour/management meetings
    4. Team and industry meetings.
  7. Maintaining knowledge of HR best practices and industry standards by attending HR seminars or conferences, remaining current on trainings and certifications, and keeping updated on changes in HR legislation, policies, and by reviewing relevant journals, reports, and publications.
Who you are:
  1. You have a relevant Bachelor/Masters degree in a related field.
  2. You have at least five years of progressively senior human resource experience.
  3. You have significant experience in a large, complex unionized environment (must have).
  4. You have strong knowledge of employment legislation.
  5. You have a thorough understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  6. You stay current on human resources management principles and best practices.
  7. You are a relationship builder.
  8. You possess strong communication skills.
  9. You work well with a collaborative team.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a generous compensation package (base salary +/- $90k) and will be joining a team that is proud of the great work their organization does to improve the lives of British Columbians.
