We are currently seeking an HR Advisor for our education client located in Toronto.


This is a temporary to permanent position that requires a fully on site work model.


The Human Resources Advisor will offer comprehensive HR support across various functions. This role will involve handling talent acquisition, onboarding, compensation and benefits, policy updates, learning and development, as well as health and wellness initiatives. The HR Advisor will work closely with the Director of Human Resources to ensure the effective delivery of these services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition:
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including crafting job postings, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, performing reference checks, and preparing employment offers. Develop innovative strategies to attract a diverse range of candidates aligned with our organizational goals and values.
  • Workforce Planning and Onboarding:
  • Collaborate with business leaders on workforce planning efforts and oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the organization.
  • HR Systems and Compliance:
  • Maintain and update HR information systems, ensuring the accuracy of employee records. Stay informed about employment legislation and policy changes to provide guidance on employment-related matters.
  • Policy Development and Performance Management:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and programs. Work with managers to address performance issues and support employee development through targeted plans and activities.
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration:
  • Support the Director of HR in analyzing compensation and benefits strategies, including managing employee benefits and pension plans, coordinating inquiries, and organizing informational sessions.
  • Health and Wellness:
  • Manage disability and sick leave cases, including coordinating return-to-work accommodations with employees, managers, and healthcare providers.
  • Learning and Development:
  • Assist in managing learning initiatives and professional development plans that align with organizational objectives and competencies.
  • Employee Engagement:
  • Coordinate internal and external communications related to HR initiatives and organize employee recognition programs and annual events.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional HR designation (CHRP) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR generalist role.
  • Experience in the education or non-profit sector is an asset.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems, particularly ADP Workforce Now, is a strong asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, current trends, and employment legislation.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive matters with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
