Established in 2011, the firm invests its capital across a range of industries, including online, vertical market software companies to publicly traded equities. Position Description


Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Valsef, the Private Equity Associate will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction and growth trajectory of Valsef Group's portfolio companies. As part of the Valsef team, the Private Equity Associate will identify, strategize, and execute new growth opportunities (acquisitions, spinoffs, new business models, or other innovative strategies). This individual will also select and execute on divestitures. This role offers a unique blend of strategy, hands-on deal execution, and collaborative engagement with key executive stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities


  • Strategic Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of our portfolio companies and market dynamics to identify new growth opportunities aligned with Valsef Group’s overarching goals. This will involve identifying, assessing, selecting, and executing potential growth avenues such as acquisitions, spinoffs, new business models, and expansion initiatives.
  • Deal Due Diligence & Execution: Lead the execution of investments and divestitures from inception to completion, including conducting rigorous due diligence processes, assessing financial viability, market potential, risks, and strategic fit, and working with internal teams and external parties to structure and negotiate optimal deals.
  • Divestitures: Identify divestiture opportunities within the existing portfolio, develop exit strategies and execute on the transactions, with the goal of achieving maximum returns.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with executives and key stakeholders across Valsef Group and its portfolio companies.


Candidate Profile


The ideal candidate for the Private Equity Associate position at Valsef Group is a strategic thinker with an investment mindset, strong analytical skills, and a knack for identifying growth opportunities and executing transactions. The successful candidate has valuable industry experience, an entrepreneurial mindset, and can thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


Experience


  • 2-5 years’ experience in investment banking, equity research, private equity, a family office, or another relevant field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, business, engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Experience with end-to-end transaction processes. Sell-side experience (an asset).
  • Ability to construct financial models, conduct due diligence, and analyze and evaluate investment/divestiture opportunities.
  • CFA (an asset).
