Robinson Consultants is seeking a self-motivated Project Engineer to join the collaborative and dynamic team in our Hamilton office. As a Project Engineer, you will work on a wide range of transportation planning and design projects, and multi-disciplinary assignments for both private and public sector clients including, local and arterial roads, complete streets, active transportation facilities, roundabouts and protected intersections.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Actively participate with the project engineering team to define work strategy, establish the scope of work, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight to designers, technicians and junior staff.
  • Design geometric alignments, roadway plans, active transportation facilities, intersections, cross-sections, grading plans, drainage, earthworks, and roadside safety.
  • Coordinate the project development, utility relocations and property acquisition process including permits and approvals from stakeholders and utility agencies.
  • Prepare detailed engineering calculations, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, procurement documents, design packages, and contract tender documents.
  • Develop engineering reports, technical memos, meeting minutes and correspondence, and support technical proposal write-ups, business development and client support.
  • Provide technical support and liaison during construction.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) Reviews and stamp engineering drawings and documents.

You should have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering and currently a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • 5 years or more of progressive transportation engineering design experience involving preliminary and detailed design of municipal roads or provincial highways , active transportation facilities, and roadway safety.
  • Superior client and interpersonal skills, including team collaboration combined with strong leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with the principles, guidelines, and best practices of transportation engineering design processes, practices, and standards used in Ontario by various municipal and provincial clients for the design and construction of transportation infrastructures.
  • Working experience and knowledge of any or a combination of Microstation, AutoCAD, InRoads/OpenRoads, Civil3D, MS Office, and MS Project
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance diverse, changing, and conflicting priorities to meet short and long-term project milestones.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (bilingualism considered a strong asset).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
