POSITION OVERVIEW
The data architect develops and maintains Navacord’s Cloud Data Architecture enabling knowledge worker productivity, improves the client experience, and business decision-making with accurate, timely, and consistent structured information. The role works with business stakeholders, PMO, IT, business partners, and external service providers, to ensure new capabilities comply with the information architecture.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates Navacord’s information architecture on Cloud and information management strategy.
- Ensures that the information architecture and information management strategy create a foundation for future investment in business intelligence.
- Maintains a holistic view of information assets by creating and maintaining blueprints that illustrate how information is stored, processed, and accessed.
- Leads, designs and develops the implementation of data architecture and business intelligence solutions.
- Implements and oversees Navacord’s corporate data models to ensure the data model and structure implementation are consistent and efficient and remain stable and sustainable.
- Defines the policies & standards for cloud native data management for structured, semi- and unstructured data use
- Defines the data architecture for cloud native data management with expert level knowledge on: Azure Cloud Platforms, Data Layers (e.g., raw, curated), Integration design (e.g., APIs), ETL (Extract, Transform & Load), velocity (e.g., streaming), Data architecture design patterns
- Defines the data architecture for cloud native data management with focus on: Business process to support data sourcing & lineage, Data Modelling methodologies & tools, and Reference Architectures
- Defines the data architecture for cloud native data management with focus to: (Business) Data Definitions & Metadata, Reference Data Management, Master Data Mgmt (core & key business data entities), and Data Lineage
- Defines the data management vision & strategies, managing the change journey and/or serving as the “architect” to design & scale end-to-end data mgmt – w/ special focus on: Data Quality Rules & KPIs, Automated Data Cleansing (e.g. use of AI / ML), Compliance Rules & KPIs, Data democratization, Data Security, and Compliance & security policies for access, use & integration
- Researches, models and documents data requirements. Models and defines corporate databases to meet short-term and long-term information needs. Maintains data management programs as required.
- Defines and controls data collection and administration policy, security, availability, and integrity requirements, and all associated ETL work to support the database structures and data model requirements.
- Collaborates with IT, PMO and the business to maximize the value of data across the organization.
- Helps develop project cost and benefit estimates to establish project worth. This includes developing alternative considerations and recommendations for new or existing systems.
- Ensures that reporting systems provide appropriate business intelligence by analyzing reporting requirements and providing recommendations.
- Collects, analyzes, mines and leverages data stored in data warehouses.
- Conducts research and provides advice to other team members regarding the selection, application and implementation of business intelligence and data management tools, as well as offers guidance regarding the collection, availability, security and suitability of data.
- Performs other duties within competence, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree in information technology, software engineering or a related discipline.
- 8 to 12 years in a role that has took ownership of the data assets for the organization to provide users with high-quality data that is accessible in a consistent manner.
- 8 to 12 years facilitating data cleansing and enrichment through data de-duplication and construction.
- 8 to 12 years in a role that discovered / captured the current state of the system, encompassing processes such as data discovery, profiling, inventories.
- 8 to 12 years in a role that Defined the policies & standards for cloud native data management for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data use
- 8 to 12 years in a role that defined the data architecture for cloud native data management with expert level knowledge on: Azure Cloud Platforms, Data Layers (e.g. raw, curated), Integration design (e.g. APIs), ETL (Extract, Transform & Load), velocity (e.g. streaming), and Data architecture design patterns

- Direct project experience in a lead role designing, modeling, and implementing corporate data models.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Insurance experience and associated designations will be considered a highly valued asset.
- Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
