Job Overview

We are looking for a Research Assistant that will play a critical role in gathering and analyzing information from various online sources and academic journals to support surveying the competitive landscape of our industry on several different levels. Your ability to navigate the digital landscape effectively, discern credible sources, and present findings will be essential in assisting our team in staying informed, competitive, and innovative. This job will be located in Toronto with a physical office and an expectation of majority time spent in the office interfacing with our team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Survey various scientific articles, databases, news outlets, and other sources for online trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Conduct in-depth internet research on a wide range of topics, industries, and markets to provide accurate and relevant information to support strategic initiatives. Analyze, summarize and visualize your research to make your results accessible and clear.
  • Assess the credibility and reliability of online content, sources, and publications to ensure the accuracy of information gathered.
  • Compile research findings into clear and concise reports, summaries, or presentations.
  • Identify emerging trends, modalities, and therapeutics that may impact the industry or organization.
  • Track and report on competitors’ activities, product offerings, and market positioning.
  • Maintain and update databases of research sources, contacts, and reference materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide research insights for informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate effective communication with staff, suppliers, and stakeholders, maintaining confidentiality and precision.
  • Represent the company in a positive light at all times and adhering to and aligning with our stated mission, goals and values.


Qualifications

  • Experience in a research-related role, preferably related to the biological sciences field.
  • Strong knowledge of online research techniques, search engines, and databases.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software. Experiences with data visualization programs and CRMs a plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to assess the quality and relevance of online information.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
