Job Summary:

The Professional Development Coach is responsible for supporting participants to become confident not only in a professional setting, but to empower themselves in their personal lives. This includes developing and implementing job readiness and leadership curriculum aligned with contextualized career pathways, academic curriculum, employability workshops, credential training and linking participants to post-secondary education, and/or long-term occupational training tracks.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop strong community support and collaborative partnerships. Maintain effective linkages with internal and external department staff, outside agency professionals and other community organizations including program funder.
  • Ensure quality and integration of program components including job readiness; contextualized career pathway; leadership development; financial literacy; occupational training; academic curriculums; and community service learning projects.
  • Deliver a robust academic curriculum including career pathway lesson plans, and college and career readiness.
  • As needed, assist program staff in conducting pre-enrollment and framework activities.
  • Monitor the participant’s Individual Opportunity Plan (IOP, ISS) and update as goals are achieved. Based on results provide linkage, referrals, and resources to overcome personal and professional barriers.
  • Delivers a robust curriculum including job readiness, soft skill development, academic remediation, occupational skills training, and college and career readiness. Update and adapt program curriculum as needed.
  • Creates and implements curriculum for professional skill development such as resume/ cover letter/ references, interview preparation, professionalism, networking, career advancement, and professional development.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring participant’s career pathway map, and modify as interests change and goals are met.
  • Ensures quality and integration of program components (adult education, training, and employment activities) and uses current labor market information to support program activities.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with networks, educational institutions and occupational training organizations to connect participants with placement in paid or unpaid work experiences, employment, post-secondary education, long-term training, possible enrollment and links with financial aid resources, assistance with application process/requirements and follow up as necessary.
  • Collects supporting documentation, monitors and maintains spreadsheets/ database of attendance, paid-work, curriculum completion, credentials earned, and academic, placement and retention milestones for contract and performance outcomes.
  • Develops strong community supports and collaborative partnerships. Maintain effective linkages with internal and external department staff, outside agency professionals, and other community organizations as it related to data management.
  • Supports the recruitment of eligible participants through internal referrals, community partners and organizations, resource fairs/ job fairs, monthly CCDCFS collaborative meetings, and grass roots marketing.
  • Assists potential participants through orientation sessions, eligibility requirements, documentation collection, and enrollment process.
  • Supports the completion of funder requirements and program assessments.
  • Refers and advocates for appropriate community resources and follow up as necessary.
  • Conducts home visits, as appropriate, to assess needs and support re-engagement of participants.
  • Organizes and maintains written documentation for participants including case notes, timesheets, incentive and supportive service forms, and evaluative data.
  • Meets the minimum outcomes per contract requirement which will be reviewed during scheduled supervision and team meetings.
  • Participates in the planning, organization and implementation of special events/department specific projects including job fairs, community fairs, community service learning projects and fundraising events.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of client or collateral interaction within Agency defined standards.
  • Participates in staff training, supervisory and staff meetings.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Exhibits positivity, flexibility and a willingness to provide in service training and take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic database usage, as well as basic typing.
  • Must be able to exchange information with participants and/or families in various settings regarding program plans and performance of participant.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Performance/Physical Requirements
  • Work consists of walking, bending, stooping, ascending/descending stairs, and remaining in a stationary position 50% of the time, including positioning self to an equal level in order to assist children of all ages.
  • Work environment is based in the community and can include an agency office, school-based setting, child care facilities or participant’s homes.
  • Must be able to drive frequently due to work varying work environments including agency office, school based, community based locations which may include participant homes in various communities.
  • Works flexible hours, which can include days, evenings, and weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clients and the OhioGuidestone and is available for crisis management by phone.
  • Interacts verbally with coworkers, representatives from outside agencies, and families.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and minimum educational level of a High School Diploma/equivalent or higher.
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to transport clients.
  • Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test and drug screening.
  • Employment is contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
  • Funding sources may require OhioGuidestone to hire an advanced degree.
