Purpose

The Superintendent of Asset Management ensures the maintenance and reliability of equipment to support continuous safe production.

The Red Chris Mine Mobile Maintenance team are recruiting for an Asset Management Superintendent to join the team, with a competitive base salary between $144,500.00 - $170,000.00/year, dependant on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. We are seeking an individual for a Fly-In, Fly-Out site-based opportunity working on a two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out rotating schedule.

Essential Duties

The person in this role will:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the maintenance and repair of an establishment's Production equipment, including but not limited to, Loading units, Drills, Haul Trucks, Graders and Dozers.
  • Plan and monitor comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules for equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to assess and implement maintenance activities effectively.
  • Assess the performance of assets, using data analytics and KPIs to diagnose trends and areas for improvement.
  • Apply strategies and standard methodologies to improve asset performance, prolong equipment life, and minimize maintenance costs.
  • Adhere to all maintenance activities in alignment with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Diagnose potential risks associated with fixed plant assets and formulate mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Handle the budget for fixed plant maintenance and asset management activities, ensuring effective cost control and resource allocation.
  • Execute regular financial reviews and refine plans as needed to stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Responsible for identifying significant risks, implementing risk reduction strategies, and conducting ongoing risk assessments to ensure safety, security and operational capability of assigned plant.
  • Collaborate with contractors to adhere to compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations, while aligning with organizational goals.

Training & Experience

Role requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Minimum 10 years of experience servicing Mining Production Equipment, with at least 5 years in a Supervisory capacity
  • Demonstrated planning skills
  • Proven numeracy and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills
  • BC Mining Supervisors ticket is preferred but not an immediate requirement

Required Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in mining activities - within a mechanized mining environment
  • Proven track record of safe work practices in high-risk environments,
  • hazard identification and rectification
  • Confidence to carry out risk assessments, verifications and workplace inspections to ensure site standards and safe working environments
  • Previous experience leading, coaching and mentoring employees with diverse skills and capabilities
  • Be a motivated problem solver dedicated to continuously improving their work environment
  • High level understanding of incident and investigation processes
