Torus Talent is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee brownfield modifications and upgrades within an active mining operation. This role focuses on managing projects such as mill conversion, conveyor upgrades, and flotation debottlenecking, ensuring smooth integration with existing infrastructure and operations. The Superintendent will act as a contractor owner, ensuring successful project execution while coordinating with operations, engineering, and Tier 1 contractors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Brownfield Construction Management: Oversee modifications and upgrades to existing mining infrastructure, including mill conversion, conveyor system improvements, and flotation process optimization.
  • RFP Review & Contractor Selection: Support the review of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and assist in selecting contractors that align with project scope, budget, and operational goals.
  • Operations Interface Management:
  • Implement permit-to-work processes to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Work with operations to optimize and reduce shutdown durations to minimize downtime.
  • Manage crane usage and heavy equipment coordination within an active mine site.
  • Schedule & Productivity Management: Ensure construction progress aligns with project schedules and maintain productivity plans.
  • Tier 1 Contractor Management: Work with and oversee major contracting firms experienced in brownfield environments.


Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in construction supervision, focusing on brownfield projects in mining, heavy industrial, or processing plant environments.
  • Strong understanding of permit-to-work systems, shutdown planning, and operational coordination.
  • Experience reviewing RFPs and managing Tier 1 contractors.
  • Ability to manage construction schedules, workforce productivity, and contractor performance.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems, flotation circuits, and mill infrastructure.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background preferred (degree, diploma, or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar) is a plus.
