New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. About The Role

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8 hours shift

Position Reports To: Senior Accountant

Position Overview: The incumbent will carry out AP functions within the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble, review and verify invoices and check requests;
  • Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices;
  • Set invoices up for payment;
  • Enter and upload invoices into the system;
  • Track taxable benefit expenses and process expense reports;
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments;
  • Prepare and perform check runs;
  • Filing invoices once they have been processed;
  • Prepare analysis of accounts;
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date;
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues;
  • Support the Finance Team by addressing inquiries, pulling data, etc.;
  • Maintain vendor files;
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries;
  • Maintain accurate historical records;
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date;
  • Vendor statement reviews, reducing repeating invoices month over month;
  • Other assignments as required.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in Accounts Payable or Business degree with minimum 1-year experience in Accounts Payable (Co-op experience considered)
  • An ambitious team player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Experience in making assessments for Provincial Sales Tax
  • Accounting diploma or degree considered an asset
  • Experience in SAP or other enterprise accounting system an asset
  • Experience in reconciling general ledger accounts an asset

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

  • Completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $65,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
