Position Overview

Velocity Truck Centre Canada, formally known as First Truck Centre, has an exciting opening for a Safety Coordinator / Manager based out of Edmonton, Alberta. As the Safety Coordinator / Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and customers in multiple dealerships.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Implement effective HSE programs.
  2. COR auditing and Maintain COR certification.
  3. Lead, identify, and manage HSE risk across the region.
  4. Monitor HSE effectiveness and report on organizational WHS performance.
  5. Mentor and coach team members to positively impact the safety culture.
  6. Ability to engage with and influence a sizeable operational workforce (Unionized and Non-Union).
  7. Coordinate distribution of safety material to all branch locations.
  8. Investigate accidents or incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  9. Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  10. Conduct regular inspections and audits of the dealerships, offices and equipment.
  11. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in safety regulations.
  12. Regular travel inter-provincially, which may include overnight stays.
Skills & Qualifications
  1. Certificate / Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  2. Demonstrated experience of at least five (5) years in a Health, Safety, and Environmental position.
  3. COR certification.
  4. Able to travel to various branches regularly.
  5. Experience with the automotive / Heavy truck industry.
  6. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Safety management software titles.
  7. Above average communication skills both verbally and written.
  8. Working in a similar industry or environment is considered an asset.
