Position Summary:
Ainsworth is currently seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team in Sudbury, Ontario. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, the role will be responsible for estimating commercial renovations and retrofits by independently and accurately pricing jobs from start to finish.

Responsibilities
  1. Review prints and project specifications for estimating purposes
  2. Understand mechanical drawings for estimating and pricing
  3. Assemble detailed and accurate quality take-offs and cost estimates
  4. Develop project material budgeting by gathering costs for the various items needed to complete the project
  5. Obtain equipment and sub-contractor pricing
  6. Prepare final estimate for review
  7. Visit job sites for estimating purposes and reviews of estimates on actual jobs
  8. Prepare change orders, follow up on them, and process them once accepted
  9. Ability to handle several smaller jobs simultaneously
Qualifications
  • Licensed tradesperson OR combination of education and work experience will be considered
  • 4+ years of experience in estimating
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and mechanical drawings
  • Familiarity with plumbing and boiler codes
