Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) is a national, member-driven organization with over 7,000 members and associates across Canada. SAC’s vision is to be the unified national voice of speech-language pathology and audiology, elevating and supporting members and associates to optimize communication, health and education outcomes for all.

SAC is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader who, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will build upon its 60-year history of passionately representing the speech-language pathologists, audiologists and communication health assistants, effectively helping to champion the needs of people with communication and swallowing disorders.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for the successful management of the Association towards fulfilment of SAC’s strategic goals and objectives. The CEO serves as a key ambassador of the organization, collaborating closely with the Board Chair to represent SAC nationally and internationally on issues related to speech-language pathology and audiology.

The CEO must be a highly strategic, values-based leader passionate about advocacy and enhancing service to members. Skilled in supporting a Board of Directors in the creation of the strategic plan, the CEO must bring proven experience in strategy implementation, program development and delivery of service to members. Collaborative and inclusive the CEO takes a team-based approach to achieving results by engaging and enabling team members to deliver on their goals. The CEO must be skilled at building and developing teams united in a culture of continuous improvement and member-service excellence.

An ideal candidate will bring a university degree in a relevant professional discipline (e.g., Business, Commerce, Finance), combined with an art of the possible mindset, strong business acumen, excellent political acuity and a demonstrable drive for results. An outstanding communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, the CEO must bring proven skill in authentically and transparently engaging a diverse range of audiences, sometimes with competing interests, towards the achievement of a vision for shared success. The CEO must consistently uphold high ethical standards including acting with courage, conviction, integrity, transparency and humility while demonstrating a commitment to social and environmental values, including equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and reconciliation.
