Job Description:

Department Overview: TDBG spends around $8B each year with vendors. Strategic Sourcing Group's (SSG) role, in collaboration with our business partners, is to create sustainable competitive advantage for TDBG by leveraging this third party spend and the expertise of our key suppliers to meet our needs, reduce total cost, and mitigate supply-related risks. Our role is global in scope and we have just embarked on a journey to transform the way we do sourcing, purchasing and vendor management within our department and more broadly across the organization. Our team is comprised of ~200 people who are in various TDBG locations across North America.

Job Accountabilities:

CUSTOMER

  1. Develop and implement Global category strategies employing category management and best practices
  2. Develop and lead implementation of category and strategic sourcing strategies that support TD and business partner needs and objectives as well as help to mitigate risks to business and TD
  3. Ensure effective delivery of SSG services to business partners and prompt and thorough resolution of all business partner issues
  4. Provide guidance on outsourcing governance best practices and provide counsel to business to ensure supplier arrangements meet all TD policy and regulatory requirements
  5. Contribute to the development and execution of the supplier transition activities, governance programs and management programs

SHAREHOLDER

  1. Work closely with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD's operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
  2. Plan and execute on strategic activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly
  3. Execute on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies
  4. Manage overall budget, revenue and expenditures, meet business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness
  5. Proactively identify key business opportunities, research and recommend enhancements / modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement
  6. Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices related to own area of expertise
  7. Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  8. Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  9. Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  10. Ensure employees are knowledgeable; and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

  1. Post-Secondary Education
  2. 10+ years of related experience
  3. At least 7+ years of experience in people management
  4. Strong leadership and coaching experience
  5. Experienced sourcing practitioner, understanding of best-practice sourcing methodology with a deep understanding of contract terms and contractual language
  6. Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings through effective implementation of sourcing strategies
  7. Demonstrated influencing, communication, strong negotiation and presentation skills
  8. Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  10. Strong project management skills
  11. Strong commercial acumen and business judgment
  12. Self-starter who can take ownership and accountability and lead projects independently
  13. Proven capabilities in operating in very fast-paced, results-driven environment;
