Financial Analyst

Join a leading Telecommunications Company as a Financial Analyst based out of Surrey or Calgary.


Role Overview:

The Financial Analyst delivers financial planning and analysis through financial modelling, scenario analysis, budgeting, forecasting and other analytics. This role is not just about basic accounting but requires someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate should be capable of managing a two-day turnaround for month-end closures. Additionally, they should possess excellent business partnering skills, collaborating closely with various business units to ensure accurate financial data for analysis and timely month-end and year-end closures. Furthermore, they will assist business units in optimizing financial performance to maximize cost savings.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial information of projects, assisting with operational reviews, internal controls and business process improvements.
  • Develop business cases, budgets, forecasts and benefits analysis to support project and operational decision making.
  • Provide leadership in monitoring, assessing, interpreting, highlighting and reporting on financial and project/operational area performance.
  • Gather information through research and analysis to build spreadsheets, tables, charts, graphs and reports to summarize information.
  • Monitors and analyzes operational and financial information for the project’s operations.
  • Forecast results and creating reports for the Leadership Team.


Qualifications:

  • A level of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Financial Analytics, or other related field.
  • Professional accounting designation preferred (CPA).
  • Experience from heavy industrial background – manufacturing, construction, forestry, mining.
  • Experience previously working as a Financial Analyst or Full cycle Accountant for 3+ years in Canada in a large company (Revenues over $50M per annum).
  • Proficiency in Excel is a must, along with a deep understanding of essential financial formulas for effectively managing, assessing, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with remote teams and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professional judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English.


**This will be a Hybrid role - Either based in the Surrey or the Calgary office**

Compensation:

  • CA$80,000/yr - CA$90,000/yr
