Job Description- Answering internal and external phone calls on a multi-line phone within a switchboard for all three hospital sites
- Respond to inquiries through the physicians' answering service
- Maintain imminent changes on SPOK calendar for physicians and clinical staff
- Respond to all emergency codes and follow procedures
- Page/Text and or call/email physicians as required
- Transfer calls to appropriate departments / staff / patients
- Activate new pagers / swap existing pagers if damaged
- Documenting call transactions and codes
- Other related duties
Halton Healthcare is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; are patient/customer focused; are team players; are effective communicators; are caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.
- Grade 12 diploma required
- Minimum of 6 weeks training required.
- Switchboard is a 24/7, 365 day department. Must be reliable and available for shifts on short notice
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience working in a switchboard preferably in a hospital setting
- Must be able to type at least 30 wpm
- Experience with Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Teams & Meditech preferred
- Experience with SPOK an asset
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Experience using a computer
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced, stressful environment
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to diplomatically respond to inquiries from physicians, staff, volunteers, patients, family members and members of the general public
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which requires prolonged periods of sitting
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
Status: Permanent Part-time
Hours: Monday to Sunday - All Shifts - Primarily Overnight shifts 11pm-7am required but not excluding various rotating; Days, Afternoons & Nights; 8.5, 7.5, 6, 5 & 4 hour shifts. Weekend and Holiday availability required. (Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements).
Salary: $22.52 to $28.12 per hour
