SUMMARY

The Weekend Coordinator is responsible for the effective management and coordination of the Erb Int fleet, ensuring loads and dispatches for each truck board are executed according to plans set by Lead Planners. The goal is to service clients efficiently while meeting a high standard of customer service.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and review plans from Mon to Fri Lead Planners.
  • Collaborate with Mon to Fri staff and suggest improvements when inconsistencies or inefficiencies are noted.
  • Execute and follow through with load plans as set by Lead Planners.
  • Prepare, plan, and execute Saturday and Sunday local traffic, loads, pickups, and deliveries.
  • Connect with drivers and terminal staff to confirm weekend plans and loads.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust load plans as necessary to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Act as a liaison between drivers, operations, and other departments.
  • Assist drivers with clarifying plans and responding to inquiries.
  • Contribute to driver satisfaction and success.
  • Maintain knowledge of transportation requirements for freight movements between Canada and the U.S.
  • Build positive rapport with drivers and other departments.
  • Review fleet personnel allocation for operational efficiencies.
  • Schedule assignments and coordinate activities for all fleets and weekend support staff.
  • Respond to satellite messages and dispatch accordingly.
  • Address queries from employees and customers regarding service issues.
  • Prepare Dispatch shift summaries and communicate changes to Lead Planners.
  • Perform all other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Flexible with a composed approach.
  • Strong leadership skills and a proactive problem-solving ability.
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to cover for other weekend Coordinators and Planners.
  • Ability to identify and recommend operational improvements.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a dispatcher in the transportation industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with routing software is an asset.
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and various equipment types.
  • Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and related regulations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
