POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Horizon Health Network, Saint John area (Region 2), is actively seeking 2 full-time Hematologists. The physician will be joining a group of six Hematologists, along with support staff including nurses and pharmacists. Research activity is supported by an Oncology Clinical Trials group.

The candidate will participate in Outpatient Benign and Malignant Hematology Clinics, weekday inpatient consults, Apheresis Unit, and Malignant Hematology Inpatient Service, with shared Heme-Onc weekend call. There is also an opportunity to provide support to the Internal Medicine Teaching Unit.

The Saint John Regional Hospital is a tertiary care hospital associated with Dalhousie University and Halifax. It serves as the Provincial Stem Cell Transplantation Centre and Apheresis Centre, with comprehensive support for managing Malignant and Benign Hematologic Disorders.

JOB DUTIES:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Provide ambulatory care in a teaching clinic setting.
  2. Provide inpatient care including rounds on patients.
  3. Provide consultations to hospital-based patients as requested.
  4. Supervise Therapeutic Apheresis.
  5. Provide on-call services during statutory holidays, evenings, and weekends.
  6. Participate in medical practice compatible with the Health Authority’s mission and values.

HOURS OF WORK:
Normal hours are 0830hrs – 1630hrs Monday to Friday, with after-hours and weekend call coverage.

REMUNERATION:
Salaried position with remuneration based on the New Brunswick Medical Pay Plan, ranging from $345,873.74 to $420,507.95 annually, plus Fee-For-Service on-call remuneration.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess:

  1. A medical degree.
  2. Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as a Specialist in Internal Medicine and Hematology.
  3. Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
  4. Proficiency in English; bilingual skills are an asset.
  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
  6. A good attendance and work record.
  7. Physical ability to perform assigned duties.

EXPECTED START DATE:
As soon as possible

INCENTIVES:
$50,000.00 with a 2-year return of service for eligible physicians. Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000 for eligible physicians.
