ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Vice President Exploration, the Surface Exploration Manager will supervise, manage and plan surface exploration work covering the entire Kiena mine property, as well as the related budgets. With the help of his or her team, the Surface Exploration Manager is mainly responsible for identifying the best targets to explore on the surface, choosing the best methods and tools to investigate them, allocating tasks to team members and preparing and managing budgets.


Job description:

  • Organize surface drilling programs in an efficient manner including but not limited to: contract awarding and management, permitting, field access, site coordination and communications;
  • Oversee the management of the mining titles that comprise the Kiena Mining Complex property;
  • Actively participate in GIT training and program implementation;
  • Supervise the personnel carrying out the various exploration activities;
  • Compile and identify the best targets for exploration, taking into account geophysical surveys and regional mapping, as well as exploration successes on neighbouring properties owned by other companies;
  • Follow-up on surface drilling management;
  • Ensure that the surface exploration program complies with environmental standards and safety regulations with contractors;
  • Ensure that geological data and models are compiled according to Company standards;
  • Improve understanding of the property's geological context;
  • Recommend drilling targets with high potential for future resource expansion;
  • Monitor the application of standards and procedures for drilling, mapping, sampling and logging, QA/QC and compilation;
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and various reports such as the month-end report;
  • Interact with other members of the management team to ensure effective communication;
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with workplace health and safety policies and with the environmental policy;
  • Work with the Company on press releases;
  • Calculate resources using the Datamine software;
  • Participate in the implementation and application of laws and regulations, norms, standards and procedures applicable to the Kiena Mining Complex;
  • All other tasks related to the performance of his or her duties.



Qualifications:

  1. BSc in Geology combined with 10 years of relevant work experience in a surface mining operation;
  2. Member in good standing of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec (OGQ);
  3. Strong knowledge of geological software and database management, such as Leapfrog, Deswick, Datamine, Office, and GéoticLog;
  4. Bilingual (English and French).


Skills:

  • Exploration experience, preferably in gold and Archean age rocks;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Solid people management experience;
  • Detailed knowledge of gold deposits, relevant experience in mining geology, especially in narrow vein deposits;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to prioritize exploration targets.



Working conditions:

  • Work schedule is: 5∙2 (8 hours)or 5∙2∙4∙3 (9 hours)
  • Must be able to adjust the schedule to meet operational needs. Additional hours may be required;
  • May be required to travel as needed.
