We are seeking a skilled HR Manager to lead our human resource function and oversee payroll operations, ensuring compliance with Canadian labor laws and best practices.


Position Summary


The HR Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, overseeing recruitment and employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment standards, and supporting organizational growth. Additionally, the HR Manager will supervise the Payroll Specialist, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.


Key Responsibilities


Human Resources Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices aligned with Canadian labor laws and company objectives.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, and workforce planning to support business growth.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Support management with training and development initiatives.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture and employee engagement strategies.


Performance Management

  • Develop and oversee performance review processes to ensure consistent feedback and development opportunities for employees.
  • Support managers in setting performance expectations, conducting evaluations, and implementing improvement plans when necessary.
  • Provide coaching and resources to employees and supervisors to enhance performance and career growth.


Payroll & Compensation Oversight

  • Supervise the Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal payroll regulations, including tax remittances, benefits deductions, and reporting.
  • Supervise preparation of payroll reports, reconciliations, and year-end filings (T4s, ROEs, etc.).
  • Work with Finance to align payroll processes with financial planning and budgeting.


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure company policies comply with Canadian labor laws (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, etc.).
  • Oversee health & safety initiatives and compliance with workplace regulations.
  • Manage employee benefits programs and liaise with benefits providers.


HR Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain and optimize HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Track and analyze HR metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Prepare reports on workforce trends, turnover, and other key HR indicators.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation (or working towards it) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Knowledge of Canadian labor laws and payroll regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, Payworks, etc.).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
