Old Toronto Ontario, CA Chick-Fil-A Lansing Full time
Our mission is to increase the success rate of small businesses. Traditional banking has been a growth limiter rather than a growth enabler for business owners, and we’re changing that. Relay is the all-in-one, collaborative money management platform. We’re building for employer SMBs and their finance function, internal and external, and are focused on delivering a human-centric customer experience. Ultimately, we help SMBs be ‘on the money'. We are hiring our first Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A who will play a key role in establishing the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function within our Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a pivotal part in supporting and developing aspects of our budgeting and forecasting processes as we continue our rapid expansion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional financial modeling skills, and the ability to provide strategic insights that drive business decisions. What You'll Be Doing:
  • Collaborate and partner with leaders to develop and refine annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Conduct detailed financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather data for accurate forecasting and provide insights for strategic decision-making
  • Prepare variance analyses and communicate financial drivers to internal stakeholders as part of the month-end closing process
  • Maintain standardized reports and dashboards to monitor KPIs and financial metrics
  • Assist in creating multi-year business plans and conduct financial modeling for strategic decisions
  • Identify process inefficiencies, lead improvements, and implement best practices in financial planning
  • Provide recommendations to enhance long-term organizational success and evaluate the financial impact of new opportunities
  • Provide decision support through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analyses to support special projects, and strategic initiatives, and assess the financial impact of business opportunities
Who You Are:
  • You have 3+ years experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or a similar role, preferably with some of that in the tech start-up universe
  • You have experience in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • You have strong proficiency in financial software and tools (ie. Google Sheets), including advanced Excel skills
  • You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail
  • You are a strong communicator and presenter and can convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • You love contributing to the development of a strategic finance function, which may include solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business
  • You're able to work independently, be collaborative, and manage multiple priorities
  • You are resilient and adaptable; we are growing fast and with this comes constant change
  • You live in Toronto or the GTA; we work in the office two days a week
Bonus Points:
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA is a plus
  • You've worked for a scaling fintech company
Our Commitment To You:
  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity: every team member gets a piece of the pie.
  • Comprehensive health benefits: we offer full health benefits + an HSA/WSA starting from day 1 so you get the coverage you need.
  • 3 weeks vacation + 5 flex days + end of year holiday shutdown: we take time off to reset and recharge so we come back better for our customers.
  • Hybrid work environment: we love collaborating and connecting in the office two times a week and offer catered lunches and a snack/beverage program for the days we’re in office. Don’t forget to bring in your furry friends
  • Personal and professional growth: support from leaders who care about your growth and success through regular feedback and coaching. Our goal is to make Relay a step-change career opportunity.
  • Top-tier equipment: we’re a Mac environment and we’ll make sure you have everything you need to produce your best work.
  • Team-first culture: we’re passionate about working collaboratively, bonding through team events, and most importantly having fun.
The Interview Process: Stage 1: A 45-minute Google Meets video call with our Director of Finance Stage 2: A take-home case study, followed by a 1-hour presentation of your solution to our team Stage 3: A 30-minute Google Meet video call values discussion with a member of our leadership team Research shows that women-identifying and other marginalized individuals tend to only apply when they meet 100% of the qualifications; if you don't have all the listed qualifications, we encourage you to apply anyway What’s Important to Us: At Relay, we believe that diversity is key to building high-performing teams, and creating an inclusive work environment is our priority. We are an equal-opportunity employer and we welcome people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We will work with applicants to provide accommodations at any stage of the hiring process. If you require accommodations during the interview process, please email your People Team contact, and we will work with you to meet your needs.
