Our client is a leading pharmaceutical distribution company serving chain retailers, independent pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals. As a Data Governance Lead, you would be establishing and managing the company's data governance framework, building it from the ground up.


This is a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension, and is on-site in Vaughan.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement a data governance framework, including designing the data governance strategy and roadmap, and developing policies
  • Research, understand, enforce, and monitor relevant data protection regulations, ensuring all policies comply with local, national, and international regulations
  • Identify data governance risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Conduct data inventory assessments and maintain an up-to-date catalog
  • Define and assign data ownership roles and responsibilities, and establish accountability for data quality and integrity
  • Establish standards and processes for data cleaning and standardization
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to measure data quality, including accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness
  • Work with IT, Legal, Compliance, and other business units to ensure alignment and integration of data governance policies, promoting best practices
  • Evaluate, select, implement, and monitor the performance of data governance tools and technologies that support data cataloging, data quality, and data lineage tracking


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, Data Science, or related field
  • Relevant certifications including: Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related field
  • Experience in a regulatory environment such as pharmaceutical or healthcare, including experience ensuring organizational adherence to relevant regulations like GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading data governance initiatives and managing cross-functional teams, including establishing and implementing data governance frameworks from scratch
  • Proficiency in data governance tools and technologies, including selecting, implementing, and managing tools for data cataloging, data quality, and data lineage
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience in training and supporting staff in data governance best practices
