Job Description

Invoke is looking for a Technical Animation Director to collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers and be the glue between vision and implementation.

What You’ll Do
  1. Collaborate with game leadership to develop the overall vision & determine technical feasibility.
  2. Build up and maintain detailed documentation for all owned features, leaving no pathways unexplored.
  3. Evaluate the game's vision, design and technical needs and identify risks and mitigation plans.
  4. Work closely with programmers to assess existing animation and rigging tools and occasionally design custom ones to improve pipelines.
  5. Support animators, game designers, and riggers with their technical needs and informatively and constructively explain the root causes of risks, blockers, etc.
  6. Train team members on tools and techniques, raise awareness of new processes.
  7. Resolve complex escalated issues and make technical validations.
  8. Anticipate technological advancements and stay up to date on market trends to define best practices.
  9. Responsible for performance metrics with regards to animation.
  10. Evaluate, design and develop the pipelines for the animation team and with other departments.
What You'll Bring
  1. 5+ years of experience as an Animation Technical Director on AAA titles.
  2. Good knowledge of MotionBuilder, Maya, and Unreal Engine ideally.
  3. Strong analytical skills and a love for efficient problem solving.
  4. Positive and collaborative communication to improve our shared vision.
  5. Flexible, adaptable approach with a constant appetite for new knowledge and experiences.
  6. Autonomy, motivation, and ability to manage a feature from start to finish.
  7. Ability to program or edit scripts is a plus.
  8. Excellent communication skills in French and English.
