Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Animation Technical Director to join our team at Ubi MTL. As a key member of our animation team, you will be responsible for supporting the design and implementation of our technical animation pipeline, production workflow, and technical requirements for delivery and needs of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Define Technical Requirements: Collaborate with project stakeholders to identify technical needs and develop solutions to enhance the animation team's workflow.
  2. Tool Selection and Development: Work with the Technical Director to select and develop internal and external tools to facilitate the animation team's work, ensuring proper functioning throughout the process.
  3. Best Practices and Documentation: Develop and maintain pipeline documents, standardize work methods, and ensure data integrity by drafting and updating documentation on a regular basis.
  4. Technical Validation and Support: Ensure the technical validation of data produced by the animation team, resolve first-line technical issues, and inform the Technical Director of any current and/or future technical issues.
  5. Optimization and Debugging: Participate in the optimization and debugging of issues raised in your field of expertise.
  6. Progress Updates: Regularly inform the Technical Director of the advancement of work to ensure timely delivery of deliverables.
  7. Additional Tasks: Perform other related tasks as required.
Requirements

What We're Looking For

  1. Around 5 years of experience in animation, rigging, or programming, plus 3 years of leadership experience.
  2. In-depth knowledge of game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal) and 3D software (3DS Max, Maya, and MotionBuilder), as well as an understanding of scripting languages (e.g. C#, Python, JavaScript, MaxScript), motion capture, and state machines.
  3. A degree in 3D Animation, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or related training.
  4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, mentorship, time management, organizational, and presentation skills.
  5. A highly innovative, collaborative, attentive, and solution-oriented spirit.
  6. Critical thinking, curiosity, resourcefulness, and flexibility.
  7. Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g. Jira) and version management systems (e.g. Perforce).
  8. A passion for sharing knowledge and helping others learn and grow.
