Job description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Dispatch Manager to join our team. As a Dispatch Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our dispatch department, ensuring efficient coordination of resources, timely delivery of goods or services, and excellent customer satisfaction.

Job Duties:

  1. Manage and supervise a team of dispatchers, ensuring their productivity and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  2. Address any issues or delays in delivery or service and implement solutions to mitigate future occurrences.
  3. Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including delivery schedules, vehicle maintenance, and customer interactions.
  4. Evaluate performance metrics and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  5. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety standards, DOT/MTO guidelines.
  6. Train and mentor dispatch staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  8. Handle escalated customer inquiries or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  9. Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements related to dispatch activities.
  10. Create weekly/monthly schedules for highway and city drivers.
  11. Analyze highway lanes to maximize profitability and plan trucks accordingly.
  12. Coordinate with the dispatch team to manage driver hours and downtime.
  13. Identify opportunities with customers, generate leads, and develop quotes to win lanes.
  14. Monitor fleet telematics, Load Link, and Border Connect and ensure rates are updated in the system promptly or as instructed.
  15. Work hand in hand with ASL’s partner companies to generate additional lanes to increase fleet volumes.
  16. Work closely with Safety and Compliance Supervisor/Manager to ensure a safe driver fleet for ASL.
  17. Perform operational analysis and recommend modifications to increase effectiveness and efficiency.

Experience:

  1. Must have 5 years of Dispatch Manager experience.
  2. Experience with P&L, Budget Management, and working with a budget/metrics/KPIs.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  4. Proven experience in dispatch operations, logistics, or transportation management.
  5. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  6. Must have experience managing an asset fleet dispatch department, with 50 plus trucks and 125 plus trailers, dry vans, reefers, tandem, /tri/quads.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  8. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  9. Proficiency in computer systems and dispatch software.
  10. Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
  11. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  13. AZ license an asset.
