This role will be responsible for the administration of DHL Express benefit plans including but not limited to Group Health and Dental, Employee Assistance Program, and Group Registered Retirement Savings and Pension Plans according to established guidelines for both unionized and nonunion client groups across Canada.

Reporting to the Compensation, Benefits & HRIS Manager, this role will be responsible for the administration of merit and short-term incentive programs, salary structure and position evaluation process as established by our regional and global offices. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills will be required as communication and client inquiry assistance will be a key component within this position.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

  • Responsible for the execution of the merit and short-term incentive programs.
  • Manage the administration of Canada-wide unionized and salaried benefit plans.
  • Administer the flexible benefits plan for the salaried employees; execute the annual benefit re-enrolment process and negotiate program rates in connection with insurer and benefits consultants.
  • Administer the various union benefit plans (fixed benefit plans).
  • Administration of salaried and union sponsored pension plans.
  • Administer the defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans; prepare monthly remittances and assist with the calculation of Pension Adjustments and year-end pension reconciliation to produce annual statements.
  • Administer PAR forms quarterly for the defined contribution plan.
  • Implement and administer the Group RRSP Program.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly billings for the various plans accurately and on time; develop and maintain billing to ensure accuracy of premiums deducted from the payroll system and remitted to the corresponding insurance carrier, union, or government agency.
  • Build strong relationships with all related vendors ensuring all programs are appropriate and cost effective.
  • Coordinate death claims payouts; ensure life insurance and pension benefits are paid promptly to the proper beneficiary.
  • Responsible for effective claims management of weekly indemnity, short-term disability and long-term disability claims; meet with insurance carriers to develop strategies to manage/resolve claims.
  • Monitor and assist HRIS practices and time and attendance tracking; act as a backup to the HRIS Administrator in assisting with Employment Equity program by updating and verifying employee statistics and database.
  • Able to negotiate preferred rates for DHL with benefits and pensions vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in the discipline.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business or Human Resource Management CEBS, CBP or CCP & CHRP designation.
  • Demonstrated time management, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced PC Skills in Excel, Pivot Tables, Word and experience with HRIS software (e.g., INFONET, WEBs).
  • Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
