This is a safety-sensitive position, the successful candidate(s) will be required to successfully complete mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol testing to comply with SaskPower’s Fit for Duty Policy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Inspect, install, remove, troubleshoot and maintain SaskPower facilities, equipment, systems and devices
  2. Work with electric/electronic controls/equipment
  3. Develop and interpret plans, designs, specifications and drawings
  4. Use approved test equipment
  5. Provide first level support for journeypersons and technicians as required by the position
  6. Collect, prepare, analyze and diagnose data and take corrective action, as required
  7. Handle the receipt of assignments and confer with technical staff on aspects regarding charts, data, diagrams, drawings, general arrangements, graphs, layouts, schematics, sketches, etc.
  8. Conduct field surveys, inspections or investigations to provide data for projects
  9. Inspect and test materials, equipment and systems
  10. Arrange for appropriate permits, as required by the position
  11. Participate in research to determine efficient and effective work procedures
  12. Operate analog or digital equipment to conduct troubleshooting, testing and/or maintenance
  13. Adhere to applicable safety and environmental practices, standards, regulations and corporate commitments
  14. Compile and maintain records associated with the position
  15. Integrate external software with corporate software applications
  16. Consult with internal and external agencies, as required by the position
  17. May supervise, monitor and inspect construction projects
  18. Participate in continuous educational and professional development as required
  19. Other related duties, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  1. Fifth Class Power Engineer’s Certificate, or equivalent, AND Refrigeration Engineer’s Certificate, or equivalent, AND Building Systems Technician Certificate, or equivalent, AND;
  2. Experience in building operation and maintenance and Building Control Systems (BCS)/Building Automation Systems (BAS), or equivalent
  3. Knowledge of related technical principles
  4. Ability to work independently under limited supervision
  5. Basic computer skills (MS Windows and Office Applications)
  6. Ability to deal with conflict and recommend solutions to difficult situations
  7. Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and projects at one time
  8. Aptitude for accuracy and detail, including the ability to cooperate with staff and contractors
  9. Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, as required by the position

This position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
