Position Overview:
The Terminal manager is accountable to oversee, direct and manage all aspects of operations related to
their location. They will be expected to drive major efficiency improvements and champion the strategy for maintaining and adding new growth. This position is based in Prince Rupert BC.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Terminal Manager’s duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop a culture of safety, professionalism and service excellence in all areas of operations.
- Work closely with Senior Management on operational plans, goals, and contributing to future
- Oversee and manage the Dispatch team to ensure service commitments are met through the
planning of human and equipment resources. - Coordinate with the other locations and Managers to resolve issues and improve efficiencies.
- Provide daily guidance to staff, to ensure alignment with operational and customer expectations.
- Maintain policies and procedure to ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial transportation requirements.
- Assess human and equipment resource needs in conjunction with Dispatch team and provide
recommendations to Senior Management for resolving. - Be actively involved in recruitment, interviewing candidates and employee selection.
- Mediate workplace conflicts; directly handle employee discipline or termination.
Provide assistance to customers in all matters (from rate quotes to complaints). - Assist in the continued implementation of new technologies.
Skills & Experience
- Solid understanding of the transportation industry and applicable regulations.
- Strong solution based interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
- Experience in managing unionized workforce and comprehensions of Collective Agreements
- Proficient reading, writing and speaking English.
- Skilled computer and presentation ability.
- Highly organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
