Olli Brands Inc., is a Canadian Licenced Producer manufacturing world-class cannabis products using only premium inputs, which results in products that celebrate the exceptional, break away from the mundane and enrich the experience. We produce cannabis infused edibles, pre-rolls and blunt products. We are looking for a Director of Innovation to lead our Product Development department.

POSITION DESCRIPTION


Scope of Position: The Director of Innovation will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of product development initiatives across Olli Brands Inc. edibles product portfolio. This role is responsible for fostering innovation, optimizing product lines, and driving the development process from concept to market. This role will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals and market demands.


Key Responsibilities:


a. Develop and implement the product development strategy aligned with Olli Brands’ overall vision and objectives.

b. Lead and manage the product development team, ensuring effective project management, resource allocation, and timeline adherence.

c. Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations to identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning to inform product development decisions.

d. Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept through design, development, testing, and launch.

e. Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the success of product initiatives and inform continuous improvement efforts.

f. Drive innovation by fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration within the product development team.

g. Manage product development projects, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.

h. Conduct regular reviews of product performance and make recommendations for enhancements or discontinuation based on data-driven insights.

i. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practices in product development.

j. Support on preparing necessary documents for all Provincial cannabis Boards in preparation for product applications and submissions to facilitate national expansion.

k. Present product development strategies and results to the President and other stakeholders.


Key Relationships:

President: Reports directly and collaborates on product strategies and organizational goals.

Commercial Team: Works closely to ensure alignment on market trends and customer feedback and engages to understand customer needs and support successful product launches.

Operations: Coordinates to ensure product development aligns with manufacturing capabilities and timelines.

Cross-functional Teams: Collaborates with various departments to facilitate a holistic approach to product development.


Decision-Making Authority: The Director of Innovation has the authority to make strategic decisions regarding product development initiatives, budget allocation, and resource management in alignment with Olli Brands’ objectives. Major changes in strategy or budget require the President’s approval.


Problem-Solving Responsibility: Responsible for addressing challenges related to product innovation, market fit, and development timelines. Requires analytical thinking to assess risks and implement effective solutions.


POSITION SPECIFICATIONS


Formal Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Product Design, or a related field is required.

Work Experience Minimum Years Required.

  • Proven experience in product development or management roles: 5+ years
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams: 3+ years
  • Background in regulated industries (e.g., pharmaceuticals, consumer goods) is advantageous.

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS

1. Impact & Accountabilities: This position is crucial for driving product innovation and ensuring that products meet market demands. Effective management of product development initiatives can significantly impact Olli Brands’ revenue and market position.

2. Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises the product development team, including product managers, designers, and engineers, ensuring accountability and performance excellence.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is primarily conducted in an office environment, with periodic visits to production facilities and partner sites. Some travel may be required for market research and collaboration with external partners.
