Executive Director Job Description

Wequedong Lodge of Thunder Bay is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the work performance of Management Non-Union and Frontline Unionized employees, as well as program and administration services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of employees in a unionized environment
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, including job descriptions for employees
  • Work with administration and legal counsel to ensure consistent application of sanctions for failure to comply with privacy policies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees in a senior leadership position
Requirements:
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience working in a senior leadership position in a not-for-profit or for-profit organization
  • Strong working knowledge of fiscal management, including creation and ongoing review and management of annual budgets
  • Proven managerial and supervisory capabilities in a unionized environment
  • Sound working knowledge of human resource policies and procedures
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and provincial legislation applicable to non-profit organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Indigenous people in a Hospitality care setting as a supervisor
  • Fluency in Ojibway, Oji-Cree, or Cree
  • Proficient working knowledge of computers and their practical work applications
