Job Purpose

Responsible for monitoring product, paperwork, and employee practices throughout the plant via direct supervision of the Quality Control Technicians, as well as maintaining technical production information that is issued to the production floor, to maintain Food safety and Quality standard.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and lead the day-to-day activities of the Quality Control Technicians.
  • Ensure that the product manufactured meets the Company’s finished product quality and safety expectations, as per customer requirements.
  • Review all Quality Technicians Records to ensure they are completed, correct, up to date and deviations/corrective actions are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Provide immediate and direct support to live quality related issues as they occur on the plant floor, including completing full investigations on product quality and Quality Hold items to present to the Quality Control Manager.
  • Ensure proper procedures are being followed during regular, customer specific, organic and allergen changeovers, and provide assistance to Quality Control Technicians as needed.
  • Issue documentation changes to the production floor, including training of applicable staff, as directed by the Quality Control Manager.
  • Participate in recalls and Traceability exercises.
  • Assist during customer visits or third-party audits.
  • Assist with Customer complaints investigations.
  • Maintain the Swab inventory to ensure that enough allergen swabs are always kept in stock.
  • Coordinate for Monthly Belt inspections.
  • Coordinate for Environmental monitoring swabbing (Listeria, Salmonella and Equipment etc.).
  • Ensure that chemical concentrations remain in spec and proper corrective actions are taken when deviations occur.
  • Collect samples for shelf life validations and send to customers when required during new product launches.
  • Coach and provide sanitation team with tools and resources to assist team members on skill development and growth.
  • Ensure that Daily & Weekly housekeeping duties are performed to an acceptable level.
  • Provide training to employees as directed by Quality Manager.
  • Manage and support the team to achieve operational success.
  • Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures.
  • Approve vacation requests.
  • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
  • Issue disciplinary action when needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Follow food manufacturing practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work with minimal management.
  • Great attention to detail with accuracy, especially in regard to product specifications.
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, including multitasking.
  • Must have familiarity with HACCP and Quality Procedures.
  • Must have shift flexibility in order to provide support to all Quality and Sanitation Team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Always work indoors.
  • Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting and temperature.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting involved.
  • May repeat the same movement.
  • Typing involved.
