The Faculty of Information and Media Studies is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about media, communications and information technologies. Through teaching and research, the Faculty examines the cultural industries, institutions, and practices that produce news, information and entertainment.

Responsibilities

Position Summary: Research Coordinator, Tesserae: The Centre for Digital Justice, Community and Democracy at Western University.

The Research Coordinator is an integral part of the Research Centre and will liaise with Centre co-directors, research team members, university administrators, and community members to carry out the work of the Centre. The incumbent will manage day-to-day operations, strategic communications, build partnerships, support project development, organize events, and disseminate research findings.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Centre;
  • Work collaboratively on research projects;
  • Support Centre development by seeking funding opportunities;
  • Oversee the Centre’s budget and expenses;
  • Maintain the Centre’s website and social media accounts;
  • Engage with digital rights and social justice NGOs.
Qualifications

Education: Undergraduate Degree; Master's degree preferred.

  • 2 years' work experience in a related field.
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
  • Familiarity with project life cycles;
  • Project management skills;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to motivate and coach team members;
  • Experience in community engagement.
