Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Technical Sales Representative to join our team at Algonquin Bridge. This role is responsible for driving sales and rentals of modular panel bridges, prefabricated bridges, and abutment products used in public and private road construction. This includes working with Departments of Transportation (DOTs), municipalities, forestry, mining, energy, and other sectors.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and project management skills to effectively promote and sell our products to contractors, engineers, municipalities, dealers, and owners.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales and Business Development

  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities within the civil construction industry.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, and cold calling.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations.
  • Specify company products with owners, consulting engineers, and contractors.

2. Technical Expertise

  • Develop a strong understanding of our product offerings, including technical specifications and benefits.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding product selection and applications.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulations, and innovations in road construction and engineering.
  • Provide on-site assistance during construction/installation, as required.

3. Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain regular communication with clients to understand their needs and project requirements.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through superior service and support.
  • Regularly travel throughout the assigned territory to develop and maintain client relationships.

4. Sales Planning and Reporting

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and industry advancements.
  • Prepare and submit regular sales reports and forecasts.

5. Manage Engineered Project Orders

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and logistics, to ensure seamless order fulfillment.
  • Work closely with project coordinators, operations, and engineers to oversee timely product delivery and application.
  • Provide feedback to product development teams based on customer needs and product performance.

6. Training and Development

  • Conduct product training sessions for clients and internal sales teams.
  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance expertise and expand professional networks.

7. Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in construction, engineering, or steel industries.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong technical knowledge of steel products, engineered products, and their applications in construction and engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite.

Additional Details:

  • Territory: Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon.
  • Work Arrangement: Remote in Alberta or British Columbia. Travel required within the territory.
