Our client, a leading Tier 1 manufacturing supplier is looking for an Afternoon Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join their team and help guide continual improvement to manufacturing processes in order to raise product quality.


NOTE:

  • Afternoon Shift


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primarily accountable for planning, developing, and/or evaluating new projects or processes; work with other engineering departments from project conception to testing to implement improvements in production and output.
  • Focus on IATF standards for Quality improvement through a formal commitment to excellence, cost efficiency and reliability
  • Design specialized Jigs and fixtures and performing engineering tests to support product development
  • Use engineering software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD and MasterCAM) and systems to conduct engineering design and analysis
  • Analyze problems involving machine design, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer
  • Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines
  • Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as needed
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
  • Set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
  • Perform and document machine tool capability studies
  • Ensure that machine settings and programs are adhered to during production as per the Tool List and Cycle Time sheets
  • Works in compliance with TS 16949/IATF Procedures/Systems
  • Act as an IATF Internal Auditor


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technician Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) through Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians Technologists) OACETT is desirable
  • Project Management Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of electrical equipment
  • Plant safety requirements
  • Production process support
  • Project / Task management
  • Vendor management
  • Team player
  • Control of Non-Conforming Product/tagging
  • Understand Plant KPI’s
  • Problem-solving tools and techniques
