Overview: Reporting directly to the Customer Solutions & Planning Manager, the Demand Planner will be responsible for supporting and managing demand planning activities on a national level for Trophy Foods. The incumbent of this position will have the mandate to create, deploy and manage a best-in-class Demand Planning function, including the development of processes, procedures, and supporting tools to enable a collaborative planning environment.


Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for supporting process ownership for Demand Planning, ensuring a consistently robust demand planning process being executed monthly:
  • Drive consensus meetings inclusive of all relevant commercial stakeholders, reflecting all initiatives and demand drivers in a consensus forecast (e.g., new product launches, delisted/discontinued products, promos, and seasonal items, etc.).
  • Build, maintain, and publish a rolling 18-month forecast monthly.
  • Lead exception-based reviews with cross-functional partners (i.e., operations) which identifies potential issues that may compromise the delivery of the consensus forecast.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Commercial functions to develop mitigation plans required to maintain the integrity of the demand plan and minimize the impact of identified constraints.
  • Provide summary performance metrics targeted at ensuring process compliance and enabling continuous improvement (i.e., forecast error, bias, etc.).
  • Maintain a unit level shipment forecast for a rolling 18-month horizon (including seasonal SKUs and special packs) across assigned categories.
  • Support consensus forecasting process:
  • Publish baseline forecast.
  • Collection and incorporation of commercial overrides (e.g., changes in promo timing, new listings / de-listings, competitive behavior, etc.) into the rolling forecast.
  • Forecast performance reporting (e.g., forecast quality / bias) for assigned categories.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and LE reporting exercises as required.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Demand Planning processes.
  • Participate in key projects, such as supply chain improvement initiatives.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks, as required.


Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree, ideally in areas such as business, statistics, or mathematics.
  • 1 to 3 years of Demand Planning experience.
  • Experience working in ERP systems (JDE would be an asset).
  • Prior experience in consumer goods and knowledge of grocery retailers would be an asset.
  • Proven understanding of forecasting processes, forecasting systems and statistical analysis.
  • Strong analytical and data mining skills, with expert level capabilities in Excel is required.
