As a key member of the People and Culture team, the Manager, Human Resource Operations is responsible for operationalizing strategic Human Resource Functions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct full cycle recruitment including sourcing, screening, scheduling and interviewing
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate the orientation and onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Oversee employee probation periods and support the communication of results
  • Deliver consistent human resource services across multiple offices
  • Track human resource operation metrics to determine efficiencies and areas for improvement
  • Drive the employee value proposition to build a culture of accountability and collaboration
  • Lead the employee engagement and recognition programs
  • Collaborate with the DPC to perform a comprehensive review of the organization's HR practices and processes in order to identify priority areas and create an action plan for improving processes, functions, efficiency and efficacy
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and/or participating in professional societies
  • Assists with the collective bargaining process
  • Coordinate the grievance and arbitration procedure and related processes, working toward early resolution in accordance with individual collective agreement and working in partnership with Union leadership to address and resolve employee issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Business Administration
  • Certified Human Resources Professional Designation (CHRP) required
  • Five (5) years experience as part of a Human Resources team
  • Knowledge and understanding of pertinent Employee and Labour Relations Legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters requiring high levels of diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including effective presentation skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, gain respect, collaborate, coach, persuade & influence, resolve conflict and manage relationships
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate reports, executive summaries and recommendations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with an HRIS or similar software is considered an asset
  • Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset
