Corus Orthodontists is a growing orthodontic partnership network that provides an ideal balance of support and autonomy for orthodontic specialists at all stages of their careers.
We are one of the fastest growing orthodontic partnerships with 59 practices in both Canada and the USA and employ 1000+ team members.
What you will be doing - key responsibilities:
- Full-cycle US Payroll processing using Ceridian Dayforce
- Responsible for inputs and validations during the regular payroll cycles
- Management of all tax related items for our US payroll across 14 states, 30 legal entities and over 150 tax accounts, including tax audits
- Oversee all monthly, quarterly, and yearend tax obligations at both the State Level and Federally
- Liaise with practices to ensure all tax related mail has been received, answer questions and act as main contact for state authorities
- Partner with our finance team to ensure 941s are accurate
- Monitor and research any outstanding payroll tax issues and work with our vendors to ensure timely resolution of tax notices received
- Manage the setup and closure of all tax accounts with state and local jurisdictions as needed
- Ensure payroll tax processes are fully documented and such documentation is easy to follow
- Maintain documentation/filing system:
- Maintain payroll tax account portal login and access details
- Regularly monitor payroll portals (i.e., for notices, changes to accounts)
- Properly file all communications received
- File copies of all reports from Ceridian
- Partner with our benefits team to ensure various deposits are done on time (401k, HSA, etc.)
- Manage any required garnishments and required deductions
- Reconcile and research differences for quarterly and annual filings include Form W2s
- Act as back up to others on the payroll team for key responsibilities
- Assist with any payroll related projects and yearend activities as requested.
- Answer questions coming in from both vendors and employees
- Ad hoc duties as required
About you:
- You are a selfstarter, who is willing to roll up your sleeves in order to make work happen
- You enjoy strategic thinking but can also operate at a tactical level very efficiently
- You are approachable, like to coach and train others, and enjoy networking and connecting with diverse groups to draw out creative inspiration.
What you bring - qualifications:
- 5+ years of US payroll and tax experience
- PCP or CPM designation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills and desire to work as part of a collaborative team
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office, especially excel
- Experience with payroll system; Dayforce (preferred)
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Able to perform job responsibilities and duties under mínimal supervision
- Strong customer service orientation
Where you will be working/other important information:
- This position is remote and can be done from anywhere in Canada.
- You will work a regular 40hour per week schedule, Monday to Friday
