Join Array to make a mark on our business and grow your career.

Who we need

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll & Benefits, we are looking for a Payroll Specialist to work in partnership with the Human Resources team and all department Managers. You will deliver accurate and timely payroll processing for employees in Canada and the USA, ensuring compliance and providing exceptional customer service. Acting as the first line of contact for resolving issues, you will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, explain policies, and assist with implementing new procedures.

This hybrid role requires 3+ days onsite during payroll weeks and 2 days in the office in between.

Who you are

You are a quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced and busy environment. You can work independently, balancing multiple priorities. You bring a keen understanding of payroll regulations and procedures, payroll systems such as ADP WFN, and a commitment to continuous improvement. If you are looking for an automated environment and a large support team, this may not be the opportunity for you.

What's in it for you

Exposure. Array is a scaling global company and this is a chance to expand your skills as you take ownership of payroll for North America. Whether you have already worked processing payroll for the U.S. or this is a new opportunity, your skills will grow with us.

Professional support and impact. Working closely with the manager, you will have the opportunity to be heard and to introduce ideas for efficiency. You will have the chance to work on new Human Resources, benefits, or Finance projects.

You will:

  • Process payroll. You will input and balance payroll, inputting supporting documents, bonus, and commission payments as provided for bi-weekly hourly Canadian and salaried U.S. and Canadian payrolls. You will reconcile bi-weekly pay-to-pay adjustments, process and reconcile hourly vacation payments, submit weekly files to respective agencies, and verify all output from the payroll service provider. In addition, you will run payroll-related reports as required monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Support HR administration. You will prepare and verify Records of Employment and create and update personnel profiles in the HRIS, payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Communicate. You will work with managers to address time-reporting errors in the timekeeping system. You will advise employees on eligibility, coverage, and other questions related to benefit payments. You will respond to inquiries from employees, Service Canada, CRA, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process changes. You will ensure that employee enrollment, changes, terminations, and adjustments are updated in the systems accurately and in a timely manner. You will also verify the accuracy of annual registers and other documentation.
  • Collaborate. You will support the manager by assisting with allocating work assignments and acting as a resource for colleagues and the organization for matters related to Payroll and Benefits. You will participate in internal and external audits. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, providing recommendations to the manager based on gaps you have identified.

You have:

  • The experience. You have experience as a Payroll Specialist for a growing mid-sized company and have extensive knowledge of payroll processes, regulatory requirements and agencies in Canada, and the U.S. You have an aptitude for numbers and processes, advanced Microsoft Excel skills and can use ADP Workforce NOW or a similar payroll and timekeeping system. You strictly adhere to the professionalism, detail orientation, and confidentiality required in Finance and Human Resources.
  • The drive. You have proven organization, planning and time management skills and can balance changing priorities to meet deadlines. You can identify issues and gaps in processes and create and implement solutions.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have professional written and verbal communication skills. You can build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You prioritize delivering exceptional service in a timely manner.

What you can expect from our interview process:

  1. A virtual interview with a Talent Advisor discussing your interest in the role and the company and how you will make an impact.
  2. A virtual interview with the Manager, Payroll & Benefits to discuss how your skills align with the role and the needs of the team. This is a chance for you to learn more about the company and ask questions.
  3. An in-person interview with the Manager, Director of Human Resources and the CHRO of Human Resources to delve deeper into the role and your career aspirations. This is a chance to meet the team and ask final questions.
