OVERVIEW


The Operational Excellence (OpX) team partners with patients, leaders and care providers across the hospital and its community to drive positive change in the areas of quality, patient safety, and financial sustainability.

Reporting to the Manager, Operational Excellence, the Improvement Consultant will be involved in the design and delivery of strategy and operational improvement initiatives, while fostering a continuous improvement culture.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assessments of patient flow and service delivery practices to identify and recommend improvement opportunities in patient care, staff safety, revenue growth, and/or resource optimization.
  • Project & Change management principles (eg: development of charters, work plans, stakeholder assessments, communication plans, status reports).
  • Structured data collection and analysis to enable factbased problem solving and effective visualization and communication of data (eg: dashboards).
  • A variety of improvement methods and tools (eg: process mapping, root cause analysis, PDSA, reliable design, rapid cycle improvement) to support effective and efficient workflows.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree required (Industrial Engineering preferred).
  • Master's degree (Business or Healthcare Administration) and healthcare related certifications are assets.
  • Lean/Sixsigma and project management certifications are assets.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience designing and implementing quality/process improvement projects in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong team facilitation skills able to provide multidisciplinary team members with clarity on project goals and a pathway to achieve success.
  • Excellent time management skills can effectively manage multiple projects and address competing demands on the basis of priority.
  • Excellent capabilities with Microsoft Office suite, including data analytics and visualization tools (eg: Power BI, Tableau).
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written can succinctly convey the salient messages imbedded in large information sets.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
