Gladue Aftercare Worker

Job Title:
Gladue Aftercare Worker, Hiiye'yu Lelum Community Justice Program

Job Overview:

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide one to one support to clients within the court system and in First Nations Court who have received or will be receiving a Gladue Report.
  • Provide a safe space for clients to work on their healing journey.
  • Maintain appropriate client/administrative records, and reporting as required.
  • Prepare and submit reports and statistics (Nucleus database), in a timely manner
  • A strong understanding of local Indigenous cultures and practices; a keen awareness of issues amongst our client group
  • Provide relevant Groups/workshops for community
  • Collaborate with relevant local agencies/partners
  • Use a clientcentered holistic approach with clientele

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Mental Health, Certificate in Aboriginal studies and/or or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience working within Indigenous communities
  • Experience with Trauma Informed practices and proven counselling skills an asset
  • Experience using best practice standards in FASD and similar developmental conditions an asset
  • Practiced setting strong personal boundaries, including implementing a wellness plan
  • A safe, reliable vehicle and valid BC driver's license
  • Excellence in written and verbal communication
Hours per week: 21-28 hrs

Salary:
$33 per hr.
