Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced legal professional to join our team at AIMCo (Alberta Investment Management Corporation). As a key member of our investment team, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal support for investment activities in various jurisdictions, including Canada, the USA, the EU, and other international markets.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and draft transaction documents, including non-disclosure agreements, non-reliance letters, and debt and security agreements.
  • Provide legal support on matters related to private debt and loan, liquidity and leverage, and other asset classes.
  • Assist in the development of AIMCo policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with external counsel and manage legal risk for AIMCo and its clients.
  • Support investment teams in managing investments and provide legal and regulatory support to various stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in a banking/commercial law practice, with a focus on debt finance or related fields.
  • Proven commitment to developing subject matter expertise and a track record of leading deals.
  • Experience in an enterprise in-house role, particularly at another institutional investor or investment manager in a regulated industry, would be an asset.
  • Law degree (J.D., LL.B. or equivalent) from an accredited law school.
  • Call to the Ontario and/or Alberta Bar and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and/or Alberta.
